Conditions are the filters that determine whether an automation fires for a given activity. Strautomator checks every condition in the automation against the incoming activity data. You can combine as many conditions as you need, and switch between AND / OR logic to express complex rules. Below is a complete reference grouped by category.

Operators

Each condition uses one of the following operators to compare the activity value against your target:

Available when power data is present.Lap count — Numeric. Number of laps recorded on the device.Lap distance — Numeric. Distance of each lap.Lap time — Duration. Time of each lap.CO2 saved — Numeric, in kg. Available on commute activities where Strava calculates carbon savings.
Start time — Time of day (HH:MM, local time). Supports before/after and approximate matching within ±1–30 minutes.End time — Time when the activity finished.Moving time / Total time — Duration-based conditions, separate from start/end clock time.Weekday — Day of the week (Sunday through Saturday). Select one or multiple days.Date range — Matches activities that occurred within a specific calendar date range (e.g., June 1 to August 31 for a summer season). Supports recurring annual ranges using MM-DD format. Is today’s first activity (any sport)true or false. Fires only for the first activity of the day across all sports. Is today’s first activity (same sport)true or false. Fires only for the first activity of the day in the same sport type.Automation is executing for the first time todaytrue or false. The automation itself has not yet fired today, regardless of other activities.
Start location — GPS coordinates. Matches activities that start within a chosen radius of a map pin. Use the map picker in the editor to select a location.End location — GPS coordinates. Matches activities that end near a pin.Passes on location — Checks the full activity polyline (route). Fires if the athlete passed through the selected area at any point during the activity.Has location datatrue or false. Useful to skip activities recorded without GPS.Start city — Text. Reverse-geocoded city name where the activity started. Supports exact match and “is not” operators.End city — Text. Reverse-geocoded city name where the activity ended.Start country — Text. Country name where the activity started.End country — Text. Country name where the activity ended.
Start city and End city conditions require a PRO subscription.
Gear — Select a specific bike or pair of shoes from your Strava equipment list. Useful to apply different rules per bike.Device or app — Text. Matches the device or app that recorded the activity (e.g., “Garmin”, “Wahoo”, “iPhone”). Supports contains/does not contain.Name — Text. Match against the activity name. Useful to trigger on activities already containing certain words.Description — Text. Match against the existing activity description.Has photostrue or false. Fires when the athlete achieved a KOM on any segment in this activity.Has new segment PRstrue or false. Fires when the athlete set a personal record on any segment.Has the specified segment (ID) — Text. Enter a Strava segment ID to check whether the activity passed through that specific segment.Device temperature — Numeric, in °C (or °F). Temperature reported by the recording device’s internal sensor (not weather).
Weather conditions use data fetched from your configured weather provider at the time and location of the activity. Activities must have GPS data for weather conditions to work.Weather temperature — Numeric, in °C (or °F based on your weather unit preference). Counters let you build cumulative tallies across activities. Each time an automation fires, Strautomator can increment an internal counter by 1 (or by the value of a chosen metric, such as distance or elevation gain). You can then use the ${counter} dynamic tag in action templates to display or act on the running total. The counter condition itself is not a standalone filter — it is configured as part of the automation’s counter settings. Counters reset at the start of each calendar year by default, but you can disable the annual reset per automation.See Dynamic Tags for how to reference counter values in activity names and descriptions.
