Who can do what
Creating and sharing an automation requires a PRO subscription. Using someone else’s shared automation is available to all users, including free accounts.
How to share one of your automations
1
Open the automation editor
Go to Automations and click the automation you want to share to open its editor.
2
Click the Share button
Find the Share button at the top or bottom of the editor. Strautomator creates a unique public URL for that automation.
3
Copy the share URL
Copy the URL and send it to whoever you want — paste it in a forum post, a club chat, social media, or anywhere else.
What gets shared (and what doesn’t)
Sharing is designed to be safe. When you share an automation, Strautomator strips all personal data before publishing it:- GPS coordinates in location conditions are removed or anonymized.
- Gear IDs (specific bike or shoe IDs from your Strava account) are not included.
- Your personal account details are not attached to the shared automation.
How to use someone else’s shared automation
1
Visit the share URL
Open the link shared by another athlete. You’ll see a preview of the automation — its name, conditions, and actions.
2
Click 'Use this automation'
If you want to add it to your account, click the Use this automation button. Strautomator copies the automation into your account as a new, independent automation.
3
Customize it for your setup
Open the newly copied automation in your editor. Update any conditions or actions that reference personal values — for example, set your own gear, adjust location pins, or change target distances to match your training.
4
Enable and save
Enable the automation and save. It will run on your next Strava activity that matches the conditions.
Managing your shared automations
To see all the automations you have shared:- Go to Automations in the main navigation.
- Click the Shared tab.
Updating a shared automation from the Shared tab publishes the latest version to the same URL. Users who already copied the old version are not affected — their copies remain unchanged.
