Music integrations let Strautomator check what you were listening to while you rode, ran, or trained — and use that information inside automations. You can match specific tracks or artists as automation conditions, or insert the song title and artist name directly into your activity name or description using dynamic tags. Both Spotify and Last.fm are supported. Connect one, both, or neither — and mix them freely with any other conditions in your automations.

Spotify

Spotify integration uses OAuth to connect to your account. When an activity is processed, Strautomator queries the Spotify API and checks which track was playing at the moment your activity started.

How to connect Spotify

Open your Account page

Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Account.

Go to Linked Accounts

Scroll to the Linked Accounts section.

Link Spotify

Click Link Spotify. You will be redirected to the Spotify authorization page.

Authorize Strautomator

Log in to Spotify if prompted, then click Agree to grant Strautomator read access to your recently played tracks.

Return to Strautomator

After authorization, Spotify redirects you back to Strautomator. Your Spotify account now appears as linked.

Re-authenticating Spotify

Spotify tokens expire. If your Spotify integration shows as disconnected or music conditions stop matching, go to Account → Linked Accounts and use the Re-authenticate link next to Spotify. This refreshes your tokens without needing to unlink and relink.

Spotify conditions and tags

Add a condition to your automation using the Listened music on Spotify field. Enter a track name or artist name to match against what was playing at the start of your activity.Example: trigger a special automation name only when listening to your favourite artist.
The Spotify condition (spotify.track) requires a PRO subscription.

Last.fm

Last.fm uses scrobble history rather than a live OAuth stream. Strautomator checks your Last.fm scrobble log and matches plays that overlap with your activity window. Because Last.fm records every song you play across all apps and devices, this works even when your phone was offline during the activity and synced scrobbles later.

How to connect Last.fm

Open your Account page

Click your avatar and select Account.

Go to Linked Accounts

Scroll to the Linked Accounts section.

Enter your Last.fm username

No OAuth is required — simply type your Last.fm username into the field and save. Strautomator uses the public Last.fm API to read your scrobble history.

Last.fm conditions and tags

Add a condition using the Listened music on Last.fm field. Enter a track name or artist name to check against your scrobble history for the activity period.
The Last.fm condition (lastfm.track) requires a PRO subscription.

Use-case examples

Set an automation with no conditions (or scoped to a sport) and a Set activity name action:
Every activity gets the song you were listening to at the start appended automatically.
Create an automation with the condition Listened music on Spotify contains “your artist” and a Set name action:
Only fires when that artist appears in your Spotify history at the time the activity started.
Use the Append to description action (PRO) with:
Strautomator writes every track played during the activity, one per line, into the description.
