Strautomator integrates with leading AI language models to generate creative, context-aware content for your Strava activities. Instead of typing “Afternoon Ride” for the hundredth time, let an AI craft a name that captures the weather, the effort, and the route — automatically, every time you sync.
AI content generation is a PRO feature. Free accounts can use AI actions on up to 10% of processed activities with access to smaller models. PRO accounts run AI on up to 99% of activities with access to the most advanced models.

AI actions

Add any of the following actions in the automation editor to generate AI content for your activities:

AI Name

Generates a creative, context-aware activity name. Uses sport type, start time, distance, speed, heart rate, power, weather, and location as context.

AI Poem / Description

Writes a short poem or descriptive paragraph and sets it as the activity description. Great for sharing activities that tell a story.

AI Insights

Writes a training analysis — observations about your effort, pacing, and performance relative to recent activities — and saves it to your private notes. Visible only to you.

AI Auto-Process

Sends the full activity data through an AI pipeline to auto-fill multiple fields at once. Useful when you want comprehensive AI enrichment without building individual actions.

Choosing an AI provider

Strautomator supports multiple AI providers. To select your preferred provider, go to Account → AI provider: When set to Auto, Strautomator selects the provider based on availability and the nature of the request. Set a specific provider if you have a preference for a particular model’s writing style.

Tone and humour style

Each AI action can use a random tone or a style you specify. You can set a default humour/tone in your account preferences, or choose from the options available in the automation action editor:
  • Random — varies the style each time
  • Preset styles — a curated list of tones (e.g., epic, motivational, poetic, deadpan)
  • Custom prompt — supply your own style instruction, such as “Write like a Victorian explorer” or “Keep it under 10 words and make it punny”

Adding AI actions to an automation

1

Open the automation editor

Go to Automations and create a new automation or edit an existing one.
2

Add an AI action

In the Actions section, click Add action and select one of the AI options: Generate the activity name with AI, Generate a poem with AI, AI insights, or AI Auto-Process.
3

Configure the action

Choose a humour/tone style or leave it on Random. Optionally enter a custom prompt to guide the AI’s voice.
4

Save and test

Save the automation. Use Activities → AI Generator to preview the output on an existing activity before your next real ride.
Combine an AI Name action with a condition — for example, distance is greater than 50 km — so AI-generated names only appear on your longer rides. This avoids spending AI quota on short commutes or warm-up spins.

Testing AI output: the AI Generator playground

Before your next activity, you can preview what Strautomator’s AI would generate for any past activity:
1

Open the AI Generator

Navigate to Activities → AI Generator (also called “Activity fortune”).
2

Enter an activity

Paste a Strava activity URL or ID into the input field.
3

Choose provider and tone

Select an AI provider and a humour style from the dropdowns. Optionally enter a custom prompt.
4

Preview the output

Click Try it! to see the generated activity name and poem. Experiment with different providers and tones to find your preferred style.
The AI Generator playground is for previewing only — it does not update the activity on Strava. Use an automation with a Process action on the Recent Activities page to actually apply the generated content.
