Connecting Garmin or Wahoo gives Strautomator access to the raw FIT file that your device uploads after each activity. That file contains training metrics, sensor readings, and device data that Strava never exposes — all of which become available as automation conditions and dynamic tags inside your recipes.
Garmin and Wahoo integration is a PRO-only feature. Upgrade to PRO to enable either or both integrations.

Why connect Garmin or Wahoo?

Strava receives summarised data from your device. The FIT file on your Garmin or Wahoo account holds far more — things like Training Stress Score, aerobic training effect, per-sensor battery status, and the exact workout name you set on your device. Once linked, Strautomator downloads that FIT file every time an activity is processed and makes all of it available in your automations.

Extra automation conditions

Build rules based on TSS, training load, intensity factor, sport profile, sensor ID, and more — data that is invisible in standard Strava automations.

Battery tracker

Strautomator reads sensor battery status directly from your FIT files and alerts you when a device is running low. See the Battery Tracker page for full details.

Richer dynamic tags

Insert Garmin or Wahoo data into activity names and descriptions using ${garmin.workoutName}, ${garmin.tss}, and similar tags.

Retroactive FIT uploads

Even without a live connection, PRO users can upload a ZIP of FIT files via Activities → FIT Upload to enrich past activities.

Extra data available from Garmin

When a Garmin FIT file is downloaded, Strautomator extracts the following fields and makes them available as automation conditions and tags:

Example: name an activity using Garmin workout data

In an automation action that sets the activity name, use:
This produces a name like Threshold Intervals — TSS 82 directly from your Garmin data.

Extra data available from Wahoo

When a Wahoo FIT file is downloaded, Strautomator extracts the following:
Wahoo’s FIT files contain fewer structured training metrics than Garmin’s. The primary benefit of linking Wahoo is sensor identification for the battery tracker and cross-referencing activity data between Wahoo and Strava.

FIT file upload (retroactive enrichment)

If you have a collection of old FIT files and want to enrich past Strava activities without connecting a live Garmin or Wahoo account, you can upload them directly. Navigate to Activities → FIT Upload, drag in a ZIP archive containing your FIT files, and Strautomator will parse each file and match it to the corresponding Strava activity by start time.
Export a date range of FIT files from Garmin Connect by going to your Garmin Connect account, then Activities → Export. Compress the exported files into a ZIP before uploading to Strautomator.
